06:23 pm - cool!
THE DEVILS (LES DIABLES)

This poignant film follows two orphaned siblings, Joseph (Vincent Rottiers) and Chloé (Adele Haenel), who try to discover the truth about their parents. Abandoned when they were tiny, these two children have always tried to stay together with 12-year-old Joseph being fiercely protective of his 13-year-old autistic sister. Together they travel through France with the vague dream of finding their parents' home, but are put in a home for disturbed children, near Marseilles. They then run away together to escape the authorities, but Joseph is forced to turn to crime to protect them. Written and directed by Christophe Ruggia, also starring Rochdy Labidi. (In French, English subtitles) (2002) MA (S,L,A) WS

I was fortunate enough to catch this on SBS the other night also. They [SBS] have had such a wonderful run of foreign films of late, which is nothing out of the ordinary I guess :)

I was researching it after I had watched it and read somewhere that the two main characters were actually disturbed children that the director had been working with prior to filming. Explains the amazing portrayal of character.
